The short version
DailyPath does not require an account and does not send your location history to us. We do not sell personal data, serve ads, or include third-party analytics SDKs in the app.
Apple services may receive requests when the app loads map content. Files leave the app only when you initiate an export or backup.
Data on your device
When you enable location access, DailyPath may store:
- Location observations provided by iOS, including coordinates, timestamps, accuracy, and source.
- Derived stays and movement used to build your day timeline.
- Places, notes, local person names, and other details you add.
- Settings, private zones, and recording diagnostics.
- Technical context needed to understand delivery and recording health, such as application state and callback timing.
This information is stored locally using iOS data-protection features. DailyPath does not operate a server that stores your location history.
Location access
DailyPath records location only after you grant permission through iOS. Background access is needed for the app to receive meaningful location events while it is not open.
The app uses low-power location services provided by iOS rather than running continuous GPS. iOS controls when events are delivered, so the resulting history may contain gaps or delayed observations.
You can stop collection at any time in DailyPath or in Settings under Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Maps and network use
DailyPath uses Apple MapKit to display maps. MapKit may contact Apple to request map tiles and related map content. Apple's handling of those requests is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
The app does not transmit your location history to DailyPath servers. It contains no advertising, third-party crash reporting, or third-party analytics SDKs.
Exports and backups
DailyPath only creates an export or backup when you ask it to. These files can contain sensitive location history, notes, places, and people. You are responsible for choosing where they are saved or shared and for protecting access to them.
Deleting the app removes its local data from the device. If you previously created an export or backup, deleting the app does not remove copies stored elsewhere.
Private zones and retention
Where these controls are available, private zones can prevent observations in selected areas from entering your saved history, and retention settings can remove older data. These choices are processed on your device.
You can also remove DailyPath and its locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
Website analytics
The DailyPath website uses privacy-friendly aggregate analytics to understand basic traffic, such as page views and referring sites. Website analytics are separate from the iPhone app and never include your app location history.
Sharing and requests
We do not sell, rent, or share your app location history because we do not receive it. We may disclose limited website or support information if required by law, or when necessary to protect the security and rights of DailyPath and its users.
